Evaluation

Digital Image Production has been a challenge for me, as I knew nothing about photography and professional cameras. In the beginning, I really struggled with figuring the right camera settings, why the pictures are overexposed an even what exposure means. I honestly did no know anything about any of these. I also wasn’t sure how to set up the studio and that included the from the camera settings to how to set up the lighting. However, after several practice sessions in the studios I would say I have got a little bit better at photography. I still do not think I am really good at photography, however I have learnt a lot and I am quite happy with the progress I have made. This journey has been amazing and challenging at the same time. So far I am happy to say that I know how to set up a studio. For my final pictures, I wanted to go for a neutral coloured look. As it is winter now these colours go well with it. I also looked at fall campaigns and came across turtleneck sweaters, which I thought would go well for the look as well. I was happy with the shots I got, although I am not sure if they look good enough as I still think I am not good with photography. Looking back from where I started I ill say that I have learned a lot about photography.

Final Shot- Using 2 Poly Boards

For this images I worked with the same model that had the same makeup, however I put some eyeliner on her eyes as I want to make these black and white images fro the final hand in. The black liner I thought would look more bolder being in a black and white picture. I used the lighting bouncing off the wall at the back in the infinity cove and two poly boards on either side of the camera as the lighting set up for this image. I will be converting these into black and white images for the final hand in. I still do think that I am not that good with photography and still need to practice on my skills.

Final Shots-Using Soft box Lighting

These are my final shots using the soft box lighting. I chose to use this lighting set up as I wanted a very soft overall look for the images. Looking at the images now I thought tat I could have done better as I am not that good at photography.

Moodboard

This is the mood board I created for my final shots for this project. My theme for the final shots is nude colours as well as using a turtle neck jumper to represent the winter season. I would create a smokey eye with nude colours using a light and a dark colour and have the lips with a single nude colour. I created the mood board in photoshop and used the ruler as guide lines to separate the image and also from a grid at the sides so that it is equal on all sides. I also had to make sure that the size of the mood board is right so that it actually fits the in design template correctly.

Practical- Using 2 Poly Boards To Create A Cat Eye

We used the  poly boards on either side of the camera  to create a cat eye effect. As the flash lights are facing backwards and the light bounces of the wall at the back it gives the front of the image a more softer look on the front and a more highlighted look at the back as this can be seen from the hair line around the head.

Practical- Using The Umbrella Lighting

This was the first time I used the umbrella lighting. This was a mission to set up but we got there in the end. For this image as you can see the lighting was on the right side in the image and this has caused a shadow on the other side of the face. I did not liked how this came out so we decided to move the lighting stand more towards the middle to get an even light distribution.

As seen in this image we moved the lighting stand towards the middle and slightly increased the flash power as well as the aperture. I feel like the umbrella lighting is kind of the same as the soft box as it is a low key lighting and it gives the skin a flawless look.
